I am still alive. I have a life. It doesn’t get posted here.
Nothing geek to speak of, except my ancient Armada 7800 linux project. Just a timekiller. Oh, and SimCity 4, but that comes later.

Finished a large systems overhaul this weekend (well, large by my standards go) to get the server upgraded to some faster kit. I took my previous “secondary machine” and made it the server, then swapped the old IDE drives for SATA drives. It is working much faster now. The old server hardware went to my SO.
Since the new server has built in Gigabit ethernet, I took the PCI 3Com card out of the old server and put it in The Beast to make up for it’s failed mobo adapter. I could try to RMA the mobo in The Beast but then I would be without it and that just isn’t acceptable. Instead, I would like to get a PCI-Express Gigabit Ethernet card to really make network transfers fly, but as it stands those transfers are bottlenecked at about 25% max by the PCI bus in The Beast and will probably stay that way for some time. *sigh*
You can hop on over to my computers page to see the info on the server now…
