  1. Hi, I have site following up the launch of Microsoft Windows 7, using your template you (I think) made, could it be possible to have a Windows 7-style taskbar at the bottom, only Vista will soon be outdated, and your will be the first.
    Thanks.
    With Compliments.
    CybX.

  2. Another idea, for that start menu of yours, is to have the Shutdown button for closing the tab/window/going-to-home and logging out as well. And the Lock Button to Log Out.
    Thanks.
    CybX.

  3. CybX, when Windows 7 has been Released To Manufacturing, I will then maybe, kinda, sorta consider possibly sorta making a Windows 7 version… but I probably won’t.

It’s probably not that hard to do because Windows 7 isn’t going to be terribly different from Vista, but I’m really not feeling like doing it. Thanks…

  5. very great work!
but I want ask you how can I insert this (start menu) in anther theme.
    please give me the answer.

  6. Yeah good point made….Have u planned anything for the shutdown button Inanis ???
It would be really cool if it had some function too…

This is just my opinion….I am anyways overwhelmed by your theme…..

  7. Hey,

Loving the theme, I know I was beta testing, I had machine issues for over a week, didn’t get much testing done but all looks good!

I have a question though, how do you make it so that stories only have the first 55 words published and then the ‘read more’ link automatically added? I have no clue how to set this by default.

2nd question is, how do you change the default theme? I love the ‘Void’ one.

    Thanks again.

  8. hello
    Inanis Glass verison 1.2
    is full WordPress 2.7 compatibility?

    support threaded/nested comments?
that mean new function in 2.7,can reply on the comment.
    thanks!

  9. Hey lee,

To answer your two questions, the 55 word thing would be better suited towards a plugin someone else has made, however, I am sure the theme could be modified to do the 55 word thing. I’m not planning on doing this.

You can change the default theme by editing useroptions.php. I apologize, I had the Life theme selected in the file when I packaged it up.

  10. Asem, inserting the start menu from this theme into another theme is, honestly, quite difficult if you aren’t familiar with programming web pages. I can’t give a quick answer on how this is done. Sorry.

  11. Inanis Glass verison 1.2 is a great theme and its design is extremely looks like a premium Theme. But stile Inanis Glass verison 1.2 is Free for the every blogger around the plant earth. I like this theme.

  12. I’m trying to display Categories in the footer. I’ve set ‘$MenuOption = 2;’ in useroptions.php. With v1.1 displaying categories in footer was working okay (I hacked footer.php directly). But now with v1.2 it appears there’s a problem in ‘cats_insert’. It looks like ‘$cat’ is null (not sure if that’s a problem) and I can see that the final ‘echo $mblist’ is printing nothing.

  13. I notice that this theme does not hide the Comments section from “Pages”. On my “about” page I have “Allow Comments” *un*checked, but there is still a box at the bottom of the About, saying “comments are closed”. I believe this should simply be hidden, the way it is with other themes I’ve been turning on (for the same blog).

  14. Hi, excellent theme. Good work mate. Just one thing I need to ask you; how can I change the opacity of the header banner? I want to make it more transparent so that the background image can be seen more through it

  15. Hi. GREAT THEME!! IS there an easy way to modify the following:

-keep the title bar (with the pencil icon) and the – put the taskbar at the top
    - remove the “start button” and all its functionality

  16. Also… just thought of this.. is there a way (or which php files would I need to duplicate and/or separate) to keep the header info as a separate frame so they do not need to load up on every new page load?

    Sorry for the bother :)
    Thanks!

  17. Ok, well, I’m working here all day, and I finally moved the taskbar up to the top, however, when I did, because the start button is a little higher, there is aout a 3 pixel space at the very top where the rest of the taskbar is transparent… is there a way I can move the rest of the taskbar to line up with the top edge of the start button??

To accomplish the move from the bottom to the top of the screen I only did 2 things: moved all the footer code to the end of the header code…. and I changed “bottom:0″ to “top:0″ for “mnusp” under “custom stuff” in stylesheets.css.

Also, where do I make the changes to move the start balloon and the sub balloons up top?

    I’m getting there… some time… but, I’m getting there….
    Thanks!!

  18. WarlorD… The transparency is set by background pngs. You will have to edit their transparency using a graphics editing program. The files are bant.png, banm.png and banb.png.

  19. Lots of questions there Michael S.

You answered one yourself, so that’s good.
If you want to put the header info in a seperate frame, you will need to create a frameset somehow and get the relevant data in those frames. Removing the header is fairly easy, you just take banner.php, remove all its content, then save it. This will make the entire header area disappear. Getting that to load in a frameset is something entirely different I don’t know off the top of my head to make wordpress do this.

Removing the start button is -sorta- easy. You would have to first open footer.php and comment out the area between lines 8 and 199. Then you would have to open functions.js and comment out the code dealing with start menu. You could leave in the code in functions.js, but it might throw javascript errors if you do.

  21. Thank you for the reply…. Because I moved the taskbar to the top, a new problem occured. If someone wants to look at a recent comment, because the comments are “anchored”, the page loads up with the comment at the very top, however, it is covered by the taskbar. Is there a way to code it so that although the “anchor” moves it to the top of the screen, it adds another 50px down, or something like that??

Oh also, how are the SM Search bar and the regular Search barsdifferent? For some reason I cannot get both to display the same text the same way (in the “value” field, before anything is entered). Ma, trying to decode is a GREAT learning experience…. :)

    Thanks!!

  22. Hi,
Nice theme! Installed on my site. To get boxes like blog-roll and links I had to remove from the previous theme’s side bar. I’ve also modified single.php so that it doesn’t show the comment box if I’ve turned off the comment for a page or article. One more modification i’ve done is to widen the navigation bar. It was set to 600px; made it 650px – I like it better in 650px.

    It is a great theme.

    Thanks.

    Ehsan

  24. Hi Inanis,

    Nice job!

But “RSS Feed for comments” does not work. I could not make it work.

    Please help me with it.

    Thank you.
    Andy

  25. SoWhat…

Changing that isn’t terribly easy – now that is. The clock is controlled via javascript, and I have compressed/obfuscated the javascript file. I can look in my source files, see if I have an uncompressed version of the code, and see if I can make a modification.

  26. Andy…

I am running Inanis Glass 1.2 on WordPress 2.6.3 and it is working okay. What kind of error/problem are you having, in detail please?

  27. Hi, Ianis!

Great theme! Thanks for make it a free theme.

Like SoWhat said: I would like to know how to change the time in the footer to the european standard… 24 hrs in stead of 12 PM, AM.
    I like to change it…

  28. Adri…
I am aware of this and I need to make some modifications to the theme to allow you to change the time format. I will be working on this soon.

  29. inanis this is a beautiful them! Geek chic all the way! I have a question about the logout. When I click Logout via the start menu I get a page stating the following:

You are attempting to log out of [Blog Name]

    Please try again.

I searched the WordPress site and found this:

    Logout from Site
The Template Tag wp_logout_url was added in Version 2.7 to provide a nonced URL for logout purposes. If a theme uses a construct such as /wp-login.php?action=logout to offer the user a logout link that code should be updated to use the wp_logout_url. A good example of the usage of wp_logout_url can be seen in the WordPress Default and Classic themes comments.php and comments-popup.php Templates.

Users will experience a You are attempting to log out of example.com. Please try again. message if the theme does not use wp_logout_url for the logout URL.

but frankly, I’m no developer and I couldn’t begin to figure out where to go to make the change they talk about. If you can point me in the direction though, I can try to fix it on my own.

Thanks again for the theme and for making it free. I appreciate your time and effort.

  30. Wonderful theme, thanks kindly for the significant effort this took. If I want to add a new background I know that I can do that by modding graphics in the existing graphics folders, but what if I want to keep all of those and add a new one, say “Sand” with self made graphics?
Which files would I have to edit besides creating the css for the new style?

  31. (Tried the “contact” page but got an error.)

Newbie here. Went to ‘editor’, then ‘custom image header’ to change Einstein photo. Found photo on my ‘puter and ‘uploaded’. Unfortunately, in a second or two the page refreshes and I’m not given the option to crop or anything. When I went to view my site, Einstein is still there. What am I not doing right or overlooking?

I’m really excited about this theme and would GREATLY appreciate ANY assistance with this. Thank you SO much!

  32. Inanis
I’ve played around with your code a little and found that modifying the clock to show 24hrs time is pretty easy. I had to decompress your JS function and commented out 4 lines from the function. Basically the Javascript function you’re using will get you 24hrs time by default. You’ve tricked it to show 12hrs time. I guess if you could set a config value somewhere for users to pick the clock type that will be great. I could give you a hand if you need to. Email me if you are interested. But I guess you know this theme better than I do, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
    Thanks.

  33. will the images show in the page canbe auto-resized in the new version? (just like wordpress default theme)

it will help reader to read a lot…

    thanks!

  34. Hi,
very good work! I like the design and the functions.
Until now I did not have any problems or errors (using WordPress 2.7).
I am also interested in changing the clock to 24h format.
Is there a way to change the default-theme? I did not find a button for that.
Wouldnt it look even better if you removed the “No Child Pages” with showing the top-page itself?

Greetings and thanks for you effort.

  35. Ehsan…
Beat you to it. Did the same thing and made modifications to the theme to allow the user to select what clock type they want via useroptions.php.

Will be a feature in Inanis Glass 1.3
