I recently upgraded The-Beast with Western Digital 300GB Velociraptor hard drives. Either I did something wrong to the machine or the drives are really susceptible to physical shock because if I walk briskly by the computer, get up from my desk or sometimes just tap the front of the computer, the machine will freeze solid and does not return without a reset/power cycle. It only does this inside Windows, which leads me to believe it’s the hard drives, but it could just as easily be static electricity. It’s been so cold here lately that the air is drier than the Sahara. Well, not really, but it’s static-ey around here.

I’ve elimnated everything else that could have changed or been damaged besides the hard drives so they are all that is left. If I still have problems, I guess I’ll go back to my 36GB Raptors and see if the problem persists.
