I came back from vacation on Sunday to find that my primary computer would not POST. Checked it out and it was a bad stick of RAM. Got new RAM in, even doubled the amount that was in the computer and all was well.
Last night, I installed a Windows Update and rebooted. The computer failed to boot. Hours of checking, hacking and backing up data and I find out that the 300GB Velociraptor OS drive in the system has a “Read Element Failure”, according to the manufacturer’s diagnostic software.
I have no idea how this happened. The machine and everything connected to it was physically disconnected from power or any other external source while I was away. The thing just decided to die.
Poo.
