About Me

About This Site

This is Inanis.net, a place for me, Inanis, to showcase stuff about me. An online résumé of sorts, if you will.  If you came for any reason, it’s because you probably stumbled across it accidentally, you Googled some computer problem and my blog has the solution or I told you to come here for a specific reason, either to show off one of my creations or to display a certain viewpoint. If it was accidental, you will probably be bored by this. If I told you to come here, welcome!  Thanks for stopping by. :o

Who is Inanis?

Well, lets see. I’m in my early thirties, and live in a quiet little town in Ohio, USA. I’m a creative, but not altogether talented guy, who can solve real-world problems easily, but not always elegantly. I’m kinda like a half left brain/half right brain thinker, with neither side being stronger than the other. My creativity spans many media, including technology, Lego, Video, music, website design, and whatever else catches my fancy. My problem solving skills culminate mostly in my career. I’m a true computer geek. (Yes, a computer geek. Not a Dungeons and Dragons/Comic Book/Fantasy geek. Those people aren’t actually geeks; They are nerds. Although our interests overlap, and they are kindred spirits, AND one can be a geek and a nerd at the same time, they aren’t the same thing. There is a difference.)

Other Details: I am not an early adopter. I am neither a Microsoft or Apple “fanboy”. Social Networking gets on my nerves. Star Trek II is the best movie ever. Your car is a means of conveyance, not a phone booth nor a beauty salon. Shut off the blinker. Obey traffic control devices, idiot. Pay attention to other drivers, moron. People who don’t vote don’t have a right to complain about government.

Want even more details? Take a look at the stupid Survey.

What I Do In My Free Time

I’m an avid computer geek, with almost a decade of real world experience, and well over a decade of self-taught computer science and technology knowledge. I’m mostly a hardware guy, but dabble with some networking, software, coding, and Operating System stuff now and again.

My Day Job

I am an A+ Certified Computer Service Technician, in charge of a regional Managed Services Provider. My duties are:

  • Direct flow of services to clients
  • Ensure engineers resolve trouble tickets in a timely fashion
  • Direct sales of managed services to new and existing clients
  • Oversight of employees
  • Intermediate Microsoft Active Directory administration
  • Wireless Internet, DSL, and VoIP installation and configuration.

My Skills

Number One: Problem Solving. The ability to look at a problem, gather the resources I need, and then implement a solution. It can be as simple as fixing a can opener, as complicated as setting up an Active Directory domain with 100 users, VPN and Terminal Services, or as crufty as restoring basic emergency internet functionality to a NOC by setting up a wireless bypass to a nearby hot spot.

Other skills include:

  • Personal Computer Repair, any and all. If it’s broken, I can fix it, period.
  • Malware/virus removal (haven’t met an infection yet that I couldn’t remove without a format)
  • Intimate knowledge of the Windows Registry, and self-proclaimed Windows 9x genius
  • Intermediate Raster-based graphic design
  • Programming Technologies: Many kinds of BASIC, DOS Batch, 6502 Assembly, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP 5, ASP.net, some perl, some C
  • Intermediate Linux LAMP server setup and administration
  • Intermediate Active Directory administration
  • Physical network administration (jacks, cables, termination, switches, etc.)
  • Intermediate business management (equipment procurement, estimates for public bid, basic accounting, human resource management, dealing with irate customers’ unreasonable expectations, gauging customer needs, etc…)

  1. I am using your wonderful design layout but when I proceed to change the header image, I get the following error message.

Unable to create directory /mounted-storage/home108b/sub007/sc27136-HEAY/www/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Do you have any Idea how to correct this error from your website or updates from the design you made, and how to correct it ?

Please contact me soon about this error and how we can fix it.

  2. I love your layout design and would like to use it with my art. I’m admittedly a bit of newb, looking for some assistance in taking the first steps towards what I’m hoping will grow into a lucrative business model. I’d like to know if you’d be willing to help me or would be interested in collaborating on a project I’ve been working on.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss.
