Angel Coast
Introduction to Angel Coast
Angel Coast is the first SimCity 4 region I created after I realized the entire Region concept of SC4. Most of my other regions before that were hand-terrained, didn’t look real, and had no purpose. In those, I was just doing the old SimCity style of building, where each city tile was it’s own thing, and the interconnection of cities was just a silly game device.
Not this region. This one is my baby.
About Angel Coast
I don’t really have any content about Angel Coast built yet for the site, but I am working on it. In the meantime, here is some basic info, and my plans for content.
- Angel Coast was created on Saturday, June 18, 2005. Yes, it is that old. I have been hacking away at it for YEARS now. Goes to show how much free time I don’t have. I went an entire year at one point without touching it.
- The Angel Coast terrain is a slightly modified version of Los Angeles (!)
- My design goal is to be as realistic as -I- possibly can with the transportation network. That doesn’t mean being realistic, just as realistic as I am mentally capably of producing.
- Because of stupid bugs in SC4, using my scroll wheel cause the game to crash 1 in about 50 times. When it crashes, there is a 1 in 10 chance it will kill the city file on which I am working. I have had to complete rebuild the anchor city, Angel Coast, from scratch because of this. The original city was much better. When that file died, I got pissed off and didn’t touch the game for a YEAR. The death of that file also seriously screwed up the Commercial balance of the region. It’s still not right in some cities.
- I want to make up some nice Photoshopped pictures of the region, and show in detail what is where, names of highways, etc.
- I want to give each major city in the region it’s own subpage with some coolness about it.
