I may get around to updating it on Wordpress Extend later in the week, and that will necessitate a version update. 1.3.5.000000001 maybe.

Apparently, my blog has a higher PageRank than both xkcd and jefbot.

I am willing to bet quite a bit of money (not really) that my page is MUCH less popular than those two webcomics, but whatever.

Why is it that teh gugel has bestowed upon me such an awesome PageRank? Planets aligned oddly? I have awesome content? My WordPress theme gives me lots of traffic (not really)? I’m just a lucky guy whose circumstances always unfold in a fortunate way?

I have no idea, but since teh gugel thinks I’m important, I’m gonna start posting more content if I can. Maybe with the extra content and popularity, I can help some people. Oh, and ads. Those make money. I’ve put them up there both because of my insane PageRank and as an experiment to see if they do anything special.

Now, some of you (what am I saying, noone really reads my blog posts anyway) may think I’m selling out. Yeah, sure, maybe. But If I can help people both while hobbying (this site) and while working (my job) -and- make money doing it, then it’s a bonus for everyone.

Maybe then, I’m just a selfish person. I don’t know. I don’t suspect the ads will do ANYTHING at all and will disappear within a couple of months. We shall see, I guess.

Am I a sellout? Is this the best idea since sliced bread? Do you thing the gugle is insane for PageRanking this blog so high? Tell me in the comments.

Inanis Glass 1.3 has been released. You can download it right from Inanis.net this time, barring a billion downloads kill the server.

If you have been using a previous version of Inanis Glass, it is HIGHLY suggested to upgrade to this newest version, due to a Cross Site Scripting vulnerability in versions 1.2 and earlier. The vulnerability is mostly annoying, but the potential is there for shenanigans, so upgrade. Do it. Like, now. Please. Thanks!

There are lots of new things going on in this version, most notably the ability to translate the theme. It’s compatible with the way WordPress translates things, so if you are interested in translating Inanis Glass, either Contact Me, or take a look at the WordPress Codex.

If you do translate Inanis Glass, I’ll put your translation up on my site so others can find it!

Thanks folks. It’s been a fun ride!

Here’s some hardware fun:

I needed to install Mac OS X Leopard on this iMac, but the customer’s DVD drive wasn’t working, I didn’t have a FireWire DVD, and the customer didn’t want to buy or wait for a replacement DVD drive to come in (drive I had in stock wouldn’t fit in the machine). So, I did what I always do and I improvised. I ran an IDE/ATA cable out the machine and connected the drive “externally”. Woot.

Had some extra hardware come into my possession, so I upgraded the Inanis.net server today. Upgraded the Athlon XP 1700+ to a 2800+, bumped it up to 1GB RAM, doubled the Hard Drive to 80GB and replaced the motherboard (or mobo, to the geeks). I had planned on putting the new CPU and RAM in the original mobo, but I found out the old mobo had a couple of capacitors that were starting to puff up, so I went full tilt. This upgrade was much easier than the last one I did. I used CloneZilla to copy the Hard Drive, and brought the new machine up beside the old one, to reduce downtime. I got the X Server configured correctly and made sure the network card worked properly (which, this time, was not an issue, not like last time), then switched the box over. Total downtime: about 10 minutes.

Life goes on.
