Day 2 of the Fall Sabbatical ‘08. Today we see Harpers Ferry from Maryland Heights, Antietam National Battlefield and Sideling Hill. Lookie lookie!

I took some piccys today on a whim. Odd lighting plus weird camera setting = funky pictures. Thank heavens for image manipulation..

Here we sit, at home, stranded and snowed in during “The Blizzard of ‘08″. It’s all good, because we have plenty of food, electricity is still on and Sydney is loving the snow.
We decided to walk downtown and take some pictures of the carnage. When we left the house, we were under a Level 2 Snow Emergency: only essential road traffic. We are now under a Level 3 Emergency: emergency vehicles only. We couldn’t leave the house now even if we wanted to do so.
Here is a preview. I have more on my Photos page.

I recently took a trip up north and passed through Oberlin, Ohio, home of Oberlin College. Right downtown they have the weirdest buidling, the Oberlin College Hall Auditorium. It was designed and built around 1950, and looks it. Here’s a picture:

The design is so awful and it makes me think of so many other things besides a building: the exhaust ports of some sort of sci-fi space ship, a high-intensity cold war radar waveguide, a Bose Wave radio, among others. However, I think the “photoshop” job below sums it up nicely.

It just screams “Eisenhower Era Rest Stop”, doesn’t it?

I took some photos today with a really nice camera. It’s just a bunch of random things around the house and yard. I took over 130 shots, but some weren’t’ that great, so here’s the ones I think are really nice.
Note in the comments if you like any of them…
