Gamma
From SPID
Revolutionary in design and highly unreliable, the Gamma is infamous among veteran Space Police pilots. In the right hands and with the right modifications it is a formidable and useful weapon, but bringing the two together is almost impossible.

History
- Originally commissioned for 250 units, this number has been greatly reduced since inception. After 112 separate flight incidents, including pilot injury, vessel damage, vessel and pilot loss, the majority of the Gammas were dismantled. Only eleven were kept, one for study and reference, another 10 in the hands of only the most capable pilots.
- Along side Reclaimer, Gamma helped the <<federation>> hold vital ground during the UFO Conflict. It's Eradicator system simply ripped through enemy targets, rendering UFO's Mesh Armor effectively useless.
Other Notes
- The Gamma has a detachable Flight Pod, with independent FTL drive, weapons systems and PEM shielding. A well trained pilot can separate the ship and fly both the Flight Pod and the Drive Hull simultaneously, hitting multiple targets at once, or a single target from two directions. The Flight Pod also allows the pilot to escape in the event of primary FTL core breach, or to jump away and jump back into the fight from a different vector, confusing the enemy.
- The Gamma's PEM Shielding system is Trilocational, comprised of three separate systems protecting three different areas of the vessel. The primary shield protects the ship as a whole. The secondary system protects the Flight Pod, and the tertiary protects the Drive Hull. When the ship is joined, the three systems link together, making Gamma's PEM Shielding tough to get through.
- The Eradicator is a very formidable weapon. It can penetrate most PEM shielding and asserts the disruption of molecular bonds, causing target vessels to simply disintegrate. Only the GPK-A has been known to survive a direct hit from an Eradicator, unscathed nonetheless.
- The Eradicator is very unreliable, and only well trained pilots can use it with any accuracy or safety. The normal experience with the Eradicator by untrained pilots is that of massive gamma irradiation, causing pilot death and electronics malfunction. The worst case scenario is that of the Eradicator eradicating the ship to which it is mounted.
- The Gamma's pilot control system is a very versatile 3D Spacial Motion system, where a series of hand and finger motions, along with foot pedal manipulation controls the vessel. This system is very difficult to use; it requires a very steady hand and intense training to control. For example: a minor differentiation in hand movement can mean the difference between flying upward and launching torpedoes. The physical knowledge and skill required to fly a Gamma has been likened to that of Black Belt level martial arts.
